Rare Harry Potter book with printing errors sells for £56000

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, a book about the adventures of the magical world, made a schoolgirl an overnight millionaire.

Actually this book is a rare version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. This is the first book of this series and only five hundred copies were published in the initial run. It not only had significant errors, but J.K. Rowling’s name as author was mistyped as Joanne Rowling.

The schoolgirl bought this book at the age of 11 from Harrogate Railway Station. Bonhams Auctioneer recently invited bids on this book. Now a US private collector bought it for 56 thousand pounds i.e. Rs 50,62,900.

The earliest version of this first book of Harry Potter series was released in 1997. It was withdrawn due to a lot of linguistic errors. Later when it was released with JK Rowling’s name and some other changes, it proved to be a huge hit.

In September 2017, it was reported that a first edition from the same initial print run had sold for $81,250 (€68,000), more than 5,000 times its original £10.99 price tag, thereby setting a new world record for an unsigned work of fiction.
