New salary limit for family visa implemented in Britain
The minimum income limit for British citizens and residents who want to invite their relatives to the country on family visa (Britain Family Visa Policy) has been increased by 55 percent from Thursday. These also include people of Indian origin living here. The government led by UK PM Rishi Sunak had announced such a scheme last year. Under this, from Thursday, the minimum annual income of people inviting their relatives to Britain on family visa has been increased from 18,600 pounds to 29,000 pounds.
By next year this salary limit will be increased twice more and will become equal to the skilled worker visa salary limit of £38,700. Britain’s Home Office said it was a last ditch effort under a package brought by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Home Secretary James Cleverley aimed at reducing legal migration and ensuring that taxpayers are not burdened by people coming from outside.Cleverley said, “The situation has reached its extreme due to large numbers of migration. There is no simple solution or easy decision to reduce the numbers to a level acceptable to the British people.”
Minimum income increased from £8,600 to £29,000
The minimum income for those inviting their relatives to the country on a family visa has been increased from £18,600 to £29,000 with immediate effect. This increase is more than 55 percent. An increase of 38,700 pounds is expected early next year. “Today’s change comes as the Home Secretary has delivered on her commitment to implement her main package of reforms to the immigration system within weeks of announcing them,” the UK government said.
