Transport strike on 20th July could cripple movement across Uttarakhand

On July 20, the wheels of 1.5 lakh public transport vehicles in the state can stop. This will cause inconvenience to the common man. Especially traveling in the mountainous areas will be difficult. State transporters have made complete preparations to make the nationwide strike successful. The notice to the transporter transport department has also been received. Chakkajam includes Bus, Taxi, Maxi, Truck, Auto, Vikram, City Bus, School Bus Unions all across Uttarakhand. On the mountainous routes there is no other means of commuting for the common man except for private bus and maxi. Roadways buses also do not run on these routes. In such a situation, people will have to be forced to walk. The strike includes school buses and van unions. That’s why children will also have difficulty in going to school and coming home.

One-day strike of transporters is no less of a challenge for the government. The transport department is in talks with the transporters to withdraw the strike, but there are no such signs. Therefore, the department has directed the Transport Corporation to operate all the buses on the day of the strike to reduce the problem of people. Assistant Transport Commissioner SK Singh said that most of the demands of transporters are from the Government of India level. There are some local demands those who are justified in this, they are being resolved. There is also a demand for rent hikes. New rental chart has been created. It remains to be signed by a member of the STA. Members are currently unavailable,upon their arrival the document will be signed soon. He told that there may be a partial impact on the transport service. Therefore, the Transport Corporation has given instructions to operate all its services on the day of the strike.

School buses, City buses and Vikrams will not run on 20th July

In the meeting of transporters held in Dehradun on Wednesday, emphasis was made to make nationwide movement successful. It included the members of other transport unions including school van, auto-rickshaw, maxi cab, tata magic. Speakers said that transporter must be united to protect their interests. Only then will the government solve the demands of transporter. Here, the general secretary of Vikram Jan Kalyan Seva Samiti Rajendra Kumar said that the committee will support the strike. Dehradun Truck Operator Association has convened a meeting in Transportnagar on Thursday to make the strike a success.
