Roadways mulls to hike bus fare as Dehradun-Haridwar toll booth becomes operational

Roadways bus travel can get expensive on many routes from Dehradun to Garhwal and Kumaon. Roadways is preparing to increase the fare after the toll tax collection booth in Lachhiwala on Dehradun-Haridwar highway became operational. Accordingly, the fare can increase in buses up to Rs 14 per ride. There is a plan to increase passenger fares in a day or two. Buses going to UP pass Lachhiwala along with Haridwar and Rishikesh of roadways, Tehri, Pauri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag Haldwani, Ramnagar, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Tanakpur and Pithoragarh.

300 buses ply from here every day. After the toll is collected here, the roadways are set to increase the fare. GM-Technical of Roadways Mukesh Singh said that soon after fixing the fare according to the toll tax. If toll tax is twenty rupees then the fare increases by one rupee per ride. However, roadways buses in Lachhiwala have to pay a tax of Rs 280. In this case, the fare can increase up to Rs 14.

Fare will increase if new toll plazas are started

Apart from Lachiwala, toll plazas are also ready at Nagina in Bijnor district and Kashipur in US Nagar district. The journey to Uttarakhand Roadways can become more expensive as soon as toll collection starts.

The fare of roadways buses has not been increased yet. Will increase the fare in a day or two according to toll tax. Fare of all routes will be updated in e-ticket machines.
