UOU hopeful of 75 courses getting UGC recognition in 30 days

75 courses of Uttarakhand Free University (UOU) will get recognition from UGC within a month. UOU has sent a representation in the UGC and the administration has been in touch with the UGC.

Dr. Rakesh Rayal, Public Relations Officer of the University, said in a statement issued on Sunday that the students who are studying in various courses from the university and the new students seeking admission need not be confused, their degree / diploma will be continued and will be valid. Different courses of new students will be run as before.

He said that this is a question of the state’s higher education system and the future of lakhs students who studied BA / MA through correspondence. He said that the courses of the university are not canceled but they have not got recognition for the current session, which the university is hopeful of receiving after the representation. He further added that only Uttarakhand Open university in not the only open university the country facing this dilema. The Open University of 14 States and the Central Government-run Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) are also included, whose dozens of courses have not got recognition for the current session.
For which the Open university of all states are speaking to UGC at their respective levels. In the notification of the UGC’s Distance Education Bureau, it has been clearly stated that any university can send its report within the prescribed records within 30 days of the issuance of the notification, or may contact itself. Once recognized, almost all the courses of the university will run as before.
