Uttarakhand High Court bans 444 medicines

In Uttarakhand, 444 varieties of medicines have been banned. It was reported that medicines that have been banned are considered as addictive drugs by the Central Drug Control Organization.

Given that in view of the growing addiction nature among the youth in Uttarakhand, Shweta Masiwal had filed a petition in the High Court which was heard on Monday. And the sale of these drugs was banned. The Court has also included Thinner, Whitener in the category of intoxicants under Section 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act 2015.
The High Court division has ordered the state government to constitute special cell with the coordination of all the departments for identifying smugglers and peddlers.

The court said that in all educational institutions of the state should establish De-addiction club. Court has ordered to make rules for narcotic drugs within 4 weeks. The court has also ordered the implementation of all the provisions of the National Narcotics Control Policy.

The court said that the Education and Health Secretary will be the nodal officer to monitor this. During the hearing, the Director Jail has been ordered to take Narcotics Examination of all the prisoners who are brought to jail. If such symptoms are found in the prisoner, then it should be treated at the drug addiction center.
