Woakes century piles on misery for Team India at Lords

The second match of the five-match Test series between Team India and England is being played on Lord’s historic ground. Losing the toss, India were bowled out for 107 runs in 35.2 overs in their first innings. In reply, England’s team lost 6 wicketsin theĀ  first innings to finish the day at 357.

Chris Woakes (120 runs) and Sam Curran (22 runs) are at the crease. Woakes along with Bairstow (93) stitched together a a partnership of 189 runs after England lost 4 quick wickets in the first session. For India Mohammad Shami 3, Hardik Pandya 2 and Ishant Sharma took one wicket. Due to the lack of light in the third session of the day, the umpires called of the player ahead of scheduled time.

The host England, playing their first innings on day 3, did not have the best of starts. England lost their first wicket of 28 in the form of Keaton Jennings (11).

Other opener Alastair Cook (21) was caught behind on the bowling of Ishant Sharma. Pope, who made his debut, battled with restraint in a situation of deterioration and captain Joe Root attempted to handle the team and added 45 runs for the third wicket. Earlier, Losing the toss, India were bowled out for 107 runs in 35.2 overs in their first innings. Ravichandran Ashwin (29) was the top scorer for Team India. In addition, captain Virat Kohli scored 23 runs. James Anderson took five wickets for 20 runs from England. Chris Woakes got 2 wickets including the big one of Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Stuart Broad and Sam Curran got one wicket each.
