2 terrorists killed; 5 soldiers martyred in J&K Handwara encounter

During the terrorist encounter in Handwara, Jammu and Kashmir today, security forces eliminated two terrorists including Lashkar commander. Two terrorists, including Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Haider, have been killed in the encounter. However, in the encounter 21 Rashtriya Rifles commanding Colonel Ashutosh Sharma, Major Anuj Sood, Naik Rajesh, Lance Naik Dinesh and Sub Inspector Shakeel Qazi of Jammu Kashmir Police were martyred. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh have paid tribute to the martyrs. PM Modi said that the sacrifice of martyrs will never be forgotten.

PM Modi wrote in a tweet, “Tributes to our courageous soldiers and security personnel martyred in Handwara. Their valour and sacrifice will never be forgotten. They served the nation with utmost dedication and worked tirelessly to protect our citizens. Condolences to their families and friends. “

 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also bowed down to the martyrs. He wrote in his tweet, ‘The loss of our soldiers and security personnel in Handwara(J&K) is deeply disturbing and painful. They showed exemplary courage in their fight against the terrorists and made supreme sacrifice while serving the country. We will never forget their bravery and sacrifice. “

He wrote in the next tweet- “I offer my tributes to the soldiers and security personnel who fell in action. My heart goes out to the families who lost their loved ones today. India stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of these brave martyrs. “

Saluting the martyrdom of these personnel, Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat said that the operation in Handwara highlighted the determination of security forces to safeguard the lives of the people.
