Congress-Left call for Bharat Bandh on September 10

Opposition parties have created a strategy to create even more problems for the Modi Government, already the government is on the backfoot over the issue of Dalit and upper caste protests against the SC/ST act.

The Congress has decided to make a nation-wide agitation on September 10 for issues such as rising prices in Diesel and petrol and Rafael deal. At the same time, the left party will also demonstrate on the issue of farmers on the streets across the country on 10th September.

This ‘Bharat bandh’ will continue from 9 am to 3 pm in the day. The Congress has sought cooperation from all the opposition parties to surround the Modi government. In a meeting with party leaders on Thursday, it has been decided that apart from opposing the Rafael deal, there has been a decision to move on the streets across the country against rising inflation, prices of diesel and petrol.

Rajasthan Congress President Sachin Pilot said that “the prices of petrol and diesel have reached the sky and the government is silent. In such a situation, we will oppose nationwide and raise the issue in Rajasthan too”. Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said that “despite the international prices being low, the price of oil is increasing steadily in the country. Rupee surpassed 72 against dollar  and the government is silent.”

Surjewala alleged that the Modi government earned about 11 lakh crore rupees by taxing petrol and diesel in last four and a half years, who went to the pocket of whom, the government could not answer it till date.

Referring to an RTI, Surjevala alleged that there were 29 countries where the Modi government was selling oil at Rs 34 and 37 rupees per liter. He said party President Rahul Gandhi is constantly referring to the central government’s intention to bring gasoline and diesel into the realm of GST, which will provide a relief of 10-15 rupees to the general public. But the government is not taking any decision.

Surjewala accused the government of plundering 11 lakh crores on the issue of oil by widespread public agitation against it. He said that when the Congress had given up the power then the price of gas cylinders was around 400 rupees, which has now reached nearly 800 rupees.

Congress has sought cooperation from all the opposition parties for the closure of India on September 10. Leaders of several opposition parties can come together on the road. Congress leader said that TMC is ready to join the protest, but the bandh will not take place in Bengal. Congress has also sought BSP support.

Left parties have said that the livelihood of crores of Indians is being affected by the rising prices of petroleum products and they have called for the All India protests on Monday, September 10 in protest against this.

CPM alleged that Modi Government is putting unprecedented financial burden on people. The statement said that farmers are already worried and due to this increase, all areas are being affected. This is turn is inviting recession. Instead of creating new jobs, it is also reducing the existing employment.
