Schools in Uttarakhand reopen for Class X and XII after 7 month gap

After about seven months, schools in Uttarakhand have partially opened today. In the first phase, students of 10th and 12th board exams have been called to school. Admissions are being given to students only after thermal screening and sanitization. Today, Welham Boys’ School, Children’s Academy and other selected schools have been opened in Dehradun on the first day. According to the officials of the opened schools, a very small number of students arrived on the first day. This estimate ranges from 10 to 20 percent. SOP has been issued to open the school.

Students who have board exams first start their classes. The Education Department has already made it clear that opening of schools does not mean that distance education and online studies will be stopped. The government has said that online education and distance education will continue to be valued. According to Secretary Education this has been clarified in SOP. After about seven months, after conducting hand sanitization and thermal screening were the students allowed in the campus.

All educational institutions in the state were completely closed from 14 March on the onset of the Corona spread. The first phase of school opening started from Monday after 231 days of closure. The Education Secretary informed that a detailed SOP has been issued for the operation of the school. The Principal of every school has been made the nodal officer. Nodal officers will be responsible for following the standards set for prevention of corona infection.
