Delhi high court convicts 7 cops in fake encounter case in Dehradun

In the Ranvir fake encounter case of Dehradun, Delhi High Court has convicted 7 policemen of Uttarakhand police. Now the sentence will be pronounced after the debate. 11 other policemen, who got relief in the case, have been acquitted by the court. Meanwhile, Ravinder Pal, father of the deceased Ranvir, has expressed grief over the High Court’s decision. He said so far he had no information about this decision. In the famous Ranvir encounter of Dehradun, the Delhi High Court has acquitted 11 police officials. The punishment of seven other police personnel will remain intact.
Thees Hazari court sentenced 17 policemen to life imprisonment on June 6, 2014, in connection with the murder, abduction, destruction of evidence and criminal conspiracy and execution. At the same time, an accused Jaspal Singh Gosain was acquitted of the murder, abduction and destruction of evidence. Although the court had convicted Gosain in the matter of preparing an incorrect government record under Section 218 of the IPC, along with a penalty of Rs 50000. CBI was investigating the matter.

This decision was challenged in the Delhi High Court. The High Court gave its verdict on Tuesday after a four-year-long hearing. In the case, Ghaziabad’s Shalimar Garden resident MBA student Ranvir was murdered by the Uttarakhand police in a fake encounter in Dehradun on July 3, 2009. Delhi High Court acquitted Saurabh Nautiyal, Vikas Baluni, Satbir Singh, Chandrapal, Sunil Saini, Nagendra Rathi, Sanjay Rawat, Daraoga Indrabhan Singh, Mohan Singh Rana, Jaspal Gansai and Manoj Kumar. On the other hand, Dalanwala Kotwali’s then Inspector SK Jaiswal, Aara Chowki Incharge JD Bhatt, Constable Ajit Singh, SOG in-charge Nitin Chauhan, SOS Rajesh Vishat, deputy inspector Neeraj Yadav and Chandramohan have retained the sentence of life imprisonment.
