India to deploy fighter jets in Andaman for the first time since WW-II

For the first time since World War II, India has decided to deploy Fighter Plane in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to counter China. The effort of India is to strengthen its hold in the western region of the Indian Ocean, with important Straits of Malacca, Sunda, Lumbok and Ombai Wetar Strait.

This will be the first time when Fighter Plane will be deployed in Andaman Nicobar after the Second World War. Straits of Malacca, Sunda and Lumbok are narrow maritime routes connecting the Indian Ocean to the Southern China Sea. 70 percent of the world trade goes through these narrow routes.

In the last few years, more and more Chinese warships, submarines and atomic submarines have been seen in the maritime region of India. The purpose of China is to increase its dominance in the Indian Ocean region. Recently, the Navy had given a clear message to Beijing by tweeting the picture of Chinese warships entered into the Indian Ocean area, that it is keeping an eye on China’s activities in this area.

For some time, the Andaman Nicobar chain line against aggressive China is planned to be promoted as a defense. The Modi government has focused on this to put it in practice.

The decision to increase safety in the Andaman and Nicobar islands came at a time when after the informal talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinpin last month, the two countries have put an emphasis on restricting their stand on 3,488 km long and the disputed LAC.

Indian Navy has deployed 19 important warships in this area and two floating ship warehouses have also been built for repair and renovation of warships.

Explaining the importance of setting up repair and renovation facilities in the archipelago series, a senior naval official said, “There is no need to bring back the warships to India’s mainland for repair.”

On condition of anonymity, the government’s top sources told India Today that the base base for fighter aircraft has been identified at Car Nicobar and Campbell Bay.

The official said, “Andaman should emerge as one of India’s top checkpoints for project power.” The airstrip at Campbell Bay is being made worth the heavy aircraft. So far Russia-built MI 17V5 has been deployed at the Nicobar airbase.
