Licensing begin for Dog owners in Gurugram

To keep a dog in Haryana’s Gurugram, adjacent to Delhi, now one has to get a license from the municipal corporation as well. Gurugram is the first such city in Haryana, where the provision of license has been made to keep dogs. Although, here provision was made in the municipal act 2008 for dog licenses, but it was not being followed.
Gurugram Municipal Corporation has become the third municipal corporation in the country licensing dogs after the Bruhat Bangalore Municipal Corporation (BBMP) and Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation. More recently, 12 licenses have been issued by Gurugram Municipal Corporation.
Gurugram is a big city of dog breeders. In many major posh societies including DLF, Sushant Lok, a lot of people have kept dogs of expensive breed like Doberman, Rottweiler, Great Dane, American Pit Bull, Tibetan Mastiff, Greyhound in homes. Here dogs are considered status symbols.
According to Dr. Ashish, the medical officer of Gurugram Municipal Corporation, the work of issuing licenses for dogs has been started. 12 people have so far licensed. It is compulsory for everyone to take a dog’s license. After accepting the license, all the registration related conditions must be followed.
