Smriti Irani inaugurates IIT Roorkee’s youth fest Thomso 2018
Thomso 2018 a four-day annual Youth Festival began in IIT Roorkee yesterday. Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani launched the festival. The program began with comedy show on the first day.
Youth festival Thomso is organized every year in IIT Roorkee. The festival, which starts on Thursday, will last till October 28. Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani inaugurated the festival by lighting the lamp in the convocation hall of IIT. She asked the students to enjoy the festival. IIT Director Prof. AK Chaturvedi told about the history of Thomso saying it takes the name from IIT Roorkee’s former name Thomson College. He asked the students to participate in the festival peacefully and safely. On the first day of the four-day festival, the comedy show was organized after the inauguration session. There will be different programs on different days. The program will include music band, The Local Train, Bollywood Night, DJ Presentation etc.
