Tata Sky users confused as some channels stop broadcast

Tata Sky subscribers were in for a fix on Monday Oct 1 as many of their channels like Sony, Aajtak were unavailable. Many users on social media complained that even the miss call service was not working.

Tata Sky had issued notice to cancel channels

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has issued disconnection notice to direct to home (DTH) operator Tata Sky for non-renewal of agreement. In its caution notice, the broadcaster stated that its channels will be discontinued from the platform three weeks from the issue of notice. Tata Sky has recently issued a disconnection notice for Mukesh Ambani backed TV18 Broadcast’s bouquet of channels. In its public notice, the DTH operator has said that TV18 and Turner channels, which are distributed by IndiaCast, will cease to be carried on its platform by September 24, due to failure of mutual understanding to renew the agreement between the parties. This notice for discontinuing 56 channels, created a buzz on social media. Tata Sky is one of the largest DTH providers in India recording a profit of more than Rs 400 crore last year.
