Virasat 2023 to be held from 27 Oct to 10 November in Dehradun

Virasat, a 15-day-long festival, which is recognized as the Afro-Asia biggest folk life and heritage festival. It will feature performances and workshops by some of the most renowned artists and craftsmen from across the country. You can enjoy classical music and dance, folk art and craft, theater and cinema, literature and yoga, and much more at this mega event. The 2023 edition of the festival will start on October 27th and end on November 10th.

The Virasat 2023 heritage fair being organized by the Rural Entrepreneurship for Art and Cultural Heritage i.e. REACH organization will be a confluence of Indian and international folk and classical dance, music and art crafts. In order to maintain the tradition, culture and heritage of India, artisans and craftsmen will showcase their folk and classical period through this platform.

RK Singh, General Secretary of REACH organization, says that this time the main stage of the program is inspired by the iconic temple architecture of Heritage Village Uttarakhand and it highlights the diversity and unity of Indian culture. He told that there will also be programs like vintage tax and bike rally and photography competition in the heritage festival. Apart from this, talks on music and literature by experts like KL Pandey and Tripurari Sharan will also be the main center of attraction.

Virasat 2023 Events

From 27th October to 10th November, a grand cultural heritage will be held at Dr. BR Ambedkar Stadium located at ONGC Kaulagarh, Dehradun. The events this year will include flute playing by Rakesh Chaurasia, classical singing by Omkar Dadarkar, Sanjeev Abhayankar, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Sunanda Sharma, Pandit Sajan and Swaransh Mishra, Sawani Shende, Aarti Ankalikar, and performances by Punjabi folk and Sufi singer Jasbir Jassi. Three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej’s Earth Concert will take place on November 10. Lokesh Ohri of REACH organization told that Ricky Kej’s heartfelt desire was to perform a concert somewhere in Uttarakhand. Apart from this, many other attractions have been added like the vintage car rally and bike rally on October 29 to give a new look to the heritage.
