Delhi’s Signature Bridge to remain closed from 11 PM to 5 AM
On seeing increasing number of accidents the Delhi government has decided to stop movement occurring on the Signature Bridge bridge from 11 AM to 5 AM till the remaining work of the bridge is complete. Work is left on the last segment of 22 meters for which the bridge will be closed. For this permission has been sought from other departments, including Delhi Traffic Police, and the bridge will be closed at night if the permission is granted.
A senior official of the Environment Department said in this connection that the main attraction of Signature Bridge is 154 meter high pillar. There is work left on the last 22 meter segment of this pillar. Also work remains in the direction of lifting. These two works will be done at night time. Although it is not yet decided when this work will start. The official said that with the clearance from traffic and other departments, the department will start development work. Work of 132 meter height of 154 meters has been completed while work is being done at 22 meters. The other is being applied in the upper part with glass.
Significantly, the Delhi government was thinking of strengthening safety standards on signature bridge after the accidents in the past one week. In the past, two youths died in the stunts on the signature bridge. On Saturday too, a young man was killed on the signature bridge due to high speed.
