Swami Shivanand begins fast unto death for Ganga conservation

Swami Shivanand Saraswati, the head of the Matr Sadan, dedicated to protecting Ganga, has started a fast unto death on Tuesday morning. Before this Brahmachari Atmabodh Anand, who was on fast unto death, ended his protest with a sip of juice.

Shivanand Saraswati alleged that Sadhvi Padmavati, who was battling for life and death in Delhi AIIMS, was poisoned by the administration after she was taken from the ashram. He accused the administration of conspiring against Matr Sadan.

Talking to reporters at Matr Sadan on Monday, Swami Shivanand Saraswati said that the demands raised by Swami Gyanaswaroop Sanand alias GD Agarwal, who had sacrificed his life to protect the Ganges a year and a half ago, and then Brahmachari Atmabodhanand and Sadhvi He too will keep a fast unto death in order  to protect  the holy river.

He accused the Center and the state government of adopting a defiant attitude towards Ganga. He said that Sadhvi Padmavati was taken from Haridwar and poisoned on the pretext of treatment. This is part of the administration’s conspiracy.
