Harmanpreet’s century guides India to win in ICC women’s world T20 opener

India defeated New Zealand by 34 runs in their first match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Group B. In reply to India’s 194 runs, New Zealand’s team managed to score 160 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodriguez played an important role in the victory of the Indian team.

While Harmanpreet Kaur scored 103 runs after a stormy start, Jemima Rodriguez scored 59 runs. Thanks to both their innings, India scored 194 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs. Lee Tahuhu took two wickets for New Zealand.
Harmanpreet scored 8 sixes and 7 fours in her innings. She scored superb 103 in 51 balls. Along with this, Harmanpreet Kaur has become the first woman Indian player to score a century in T20I.

Batting first after winning toss

India decided to bat first before winning the toss at the Providence Stadium. The team lost their three wickets at one time under 40 runs. After that, Harmanpreet and Rodriguez made a wonderful partnership of 134 runs for the fourth wicket to take the Indian team’s score to 194 for five wickets in 20 overs.

Captain Harmanpreet made the first 50 runs in 33 balls and the next 50 runs in just 16 balls. This is the first T-20 century of Harmanpreet. Apart from them, Rodriguez hit seven fours in 45 balls. This was the fourth half-century of Rodriguez.
