NIT Srinagar campus to be shifted to Rishikesh temporarily

Under the pressure of the students’ movement, NIT (National Institute of Technology) has found alternate place in Rishikesh for temporary campus. Denying the reports of shifting until the last day, the institute, has quietly identified an educational institution in Rishikesh. The discussion of campus shifting has been stamped with the action of the institute. The institute believes that if the students gone on protest do not return then then classes can be run there.
About 980 students of PhD, MTech and BTech are studying in NIT Uttarakhand, running temporarily in Bhaktiyana. Students are boycotting the classes indefinitely from October 4 for temporary campus shifting and demand of facilities in the convenient location till the construction of the permanent campus.

On the morning of October 23, students suddenly left the hostel and went to their home. Since then, students are stuck on the demand for campus shifting in a convenient location. They say that they will return to classes only after the demand is met.

Questions on NIT Administration

Due to this impasse, the institute, while considering the demand of students, has sought a place for temporary campus elsewhere. In the past, the committee constituted by the Institute has marked an educational institution in Rishikesh for it.

The institute has confirmed it. NIT Assistant Registrar / Public Relations Officer Jaideep Singh said that as an alternative arrangement, a place has been identified in Rishikesh. He said that one said asset belongs to a teaching institution, but he refused to give the name of the institute.

NIT Shifting Movement is also raising finger on the NIT administration. It is being said that there are some officials in the educational institute that the students are in the opposition and they do not go to classrooms. Even after all the students left the institute in mass protests, the NIT administration has not taken any action.
