PhD student of Gurukul Kangri dies after being overrun by bus

Gurukul Kangri University’s PhD student from Kurukshetra died after being crushed by private bus carrying school students from Vikasnagar on a picnic. From Motichur, the father of the girl was going to drop her on their two wheeler. During overtaking the bus near the pantdweep parking, the father-daughter came in its grip. 22-year-old Megha died on the spot when wheel of the bus passed over her head. The girl’s father is also injured. Police have performed postmortem on the corpse.

According to the police, Megha Mamgain, a resident of Motichur Dehradun, was a student of environmental science at Gurukul Kangri University. Like everyday, on Thursday, Megha was going to her college with her father Harish Mamgai. While overtaking a private bus near the pantdweep parking on Thursday morning, the father of the girl lost control of the two wheeler when suddenly an auto came in their way. The father fell on the edge along with the scooter, while Megha went towards the bus. Meanwhile, the wheel of the bus passed over the head of 22-year-old Megha and she died on the spot. Megha’s father was also injured in the accident. After the accident, the passers-by stopped and caught the driver. In the inquiry, the driver told that students of St. Mary School of Vikasnagar were being taken to picnic at Crystal World Park, Roorkee. The police took the body for post-mortem and took possession of the bus.
Father and family of the deceased girl reached Kotwali. They expressed their desire not to get a post-mortem. On which police asked to get permission from the DM which was denied. After the post-mortem, the police handed the body to the relatives. City Kotwal Navin Chandra Seemwal told that the driver was being questioned in custody. The trial will be registered if a complaint is registered.
