Heavy rains bring life to standstill in Dehradun

Torrential rains lashed Dehradun and adjoining areas on Friday. During this, many Chowk intersection of the city became submerged. Drains were in full flow. At the same time, in the hills, on Thursday night, 112 roadways have been blocked due to heavy rains. Rishikesh-Gangotri highway did not open for the third day on Friday. On the other hand, a residential house in Kadesh Tehsil in Bageshwar has collapsed due to excessive rain.

From Dehradun to the adjacent areas heavy rains brought life to a standstill on Friday. Rains lashed several parts of the city including Rajpur road, Dharmapur, Haridwar road, Landsdwone Chowk, Buddha Chowk, Dalanwala, Sahastradha road, Chakrata Road, Bindal bridge, FRI, Raipur etc. During this, the intersection of these areas became submerged. While there was moderate rainfall in Banjarawala, Haridwar Bypass, Karagi, ISBT, Transport Nagar, Majra Chowk, Shimla Bypass, Patel Nagar etc. Rainfall in Dehradun varied from 7.2 mm to 22.3mm.

Gangotri highway blocked for three days

112 roadways were blocked in the state from due to the rains since Thursday. Rishikesh-Gangotri highway did not open for the third day on Friday. Rishikesh-Yamunotri highway remained closed for five hours in Dabarkot and for half an hour in Narendranagar in the morning. During this time three hundred passengers were trapped in one place. Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway was closed for one hour in the morning at Sirobgarh. Rainfall also occurred in Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Uttarkashi and Pauri districts. In Dehradun and Mussoorie, there rain intensity increased in the later part of the day.
