Smart parking to come up soon in Dehradun

Dehradun’s first smart parking (on street parking) work is in the final stages. People will also have to pay the fee to park the vehicle in the parking lot, however, it is much less than that 100 rupees, which has to be suffered as an fine if the vehicle is parked in a no parking zone. Parking charges will be around 15 to 30 rupees for the first hour. However, this amount is yet to be finalized.

On Saturday, Dr Ashish Kumar Shrivastav, Vice President of Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) also inspected the parking lots with officials of various departments. Vice President Dr. Shrivastava said that cameras have been installed in parking spaces. So that vehicles can be fully monitored. Apart from this, employees handling the parking arrangements will also have a hand-held machine to pay a ticket. As soon as the ticket will be filed on the machine, the details of it will be found at the online parking command control center. At one of the parking places, the Deputy Chairman also parked the vehicle to check the machine working and also observed the whole process till the ticket was given from parking to ticket. He said that parking lots have been developed and now the painting work is being done in the final phase. On Tuesday, a meeting of the various departments coordination committee will be held regarding the parking fee, the final seal will also be applied.

Over 600 vehicles capacity parking

The team of MDDA has identified 28 parking lots on both sides of the road, but the 21 most suitable places are Clock tower to Rajpur road towards the left side. The special thing is that according to the numbers, the maximum pressure of vehicles remains on the left side. 661 vehicles can be parked on this whole stretch. For the car the road has been reserved for five meter length and 2.2 meter width per car, while for two-wheeler it will be reserved for two meters in length and 1.8 meters in width. People can book the parking space from their home after some time. An app is being prepared to give this facility. So that the place where people will be working around, they can book the parking in advance.

No more wandering for parking

Boards have been set up at the on-street parking spot so that it can be known from a distance that vehicles can be parked there. On Saturday, officials also reviewed such boards made of stainless steel. Parking places for the handicapped will be reserved.

In the smart parking, one venue will be reserved for each of 28 parking spaces for the handicapped. The identity of this site will be that there will be blue paint on the tiles here.
