Union Health Ministry issues new guidelines for international travelers coming to India

In view of the improvement in the corona virus pandemic crisis, the Union Health Ministry issued a new guideline for international arrivals. According to this, the category of ‘at risk’ and other countries will be removed from February 14. Also, passengers coming to India from February 14 will not be required to undergo RTPR test. Instead, the complete vaccination report will have to be uploaded.

It has been said in the new guideline that there will be no need to conduct corona test at the airport. At the same time, the seven-day home quarantine will be ended. The passenger will have to do self-monitoring for 14 days. Random testing will be done for only two percent of the passengers coming to India.

Self declaration form required to be filled

As per the guideline, passengers traveling to India will have to provide complete and factual information in a self-declaration form on the Air Suvidha Portal (https://www.newdelhiairport.in/airsuvidha/apho-registration) before travelling, in which the travel details of the last 14 days will also be included. Passengers will have to upload a negative RT-PCR test report or a certificate of fully vaccinated within 72 hours of the commencement of the journey.

Travelers coming from these 72 countries will have the option

However, this option is only for travelers arriving from 72 countries whose vaccination campaigns are recognized by the Government of India as part of the reciprocal programme. These countries include Canada, Hong Kong, the United States, the United Kingdom, Bahrain, Qatar, Australia, New Zealand, and some European countries.

Airlines will have to give information to passengers with the ticket

The concerned airlines and agencies will have to inform the passengers about the dos and don’ts with their tickets. It said that airlines are to allow travel only by those passengers who have filled all the details in the self-declaration form and have shown their RT-PCR test report or vaccination certificate.

Face mask, social distancing will have to be followed

Only asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to board. It will be necessary to wear a face mask and follow social distancing during the flight. Apart from thermal screening on arrival, randomly selected passengers (up to two per cent of total passengers per flight) will be asked to undergo RT-PCR test. Passengers will be selected by the airline, who must be from different countries.
