Uttarakhand registers 3rd consecutive win in Ranji Trophy

Defeat Sikkim by innings and 178 runs

Team Uttarakhand kept its winning momentum by registering a third straight win in the Ranji Trophy. With this win debutants Uttarakhand are currently the table toppers in Plate group of Ranji Trophy.

Team Uttarakhand recovers after disastrous start

Batting first Uttarakhand lost its 4 wickets for just 38 runs. Saurabh Rawat (220) then combined with skipper Rajat Bhatia (121) and later with Vaibhav Bhatt (152*). Together the trio helped team Uttarakhand reach a mammoth 582 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Sikkim batsmen too didn’t have quite the best of starts losing 3 wickets for 34 runs. Miland Kumar (133) and  Nilesh Lamichaney (57) tried to hold fort for Sikkim but once they were dismissed the whole team was out for 264. On the third day of the match, Uttarakhand pacer Dhanraj Sharma and spinner Malolan Rangarajan took three wickets each. Dhanraj Sharma took three for 36 runs. At the same time, Malolan went for 67 runs for his three wickets. Captain Rajat Bhatia took two for 33 and Deepak Dhopola and Sunny Rana took one wicket each.

Following on Sikkim lost two quick wickets before stumps. Pacer Deepak Dhopola who has been instrumental since his debut then turned wrecker in chief for team Sikkim with a four wicket haul. In the second innings only 3 batsmen from Sikkim were able to cross the double digit mark. As a result the entire tam folded for 140 runs giving team Uttarakhand its 3rd win in as many matches.
