Heavy rain warning on August 22 and 23 issued for Dehradun and 4 districts

Monsoon has once again become active in Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Center has issued heavy rain warning in five districts of the state including Dehradun in the next 48 hours. In addition, heavy to very heavy rain alerts have also been issued in the state for the next two days.

On the other hand, roads damaged by landslides in Uttarakhand have started to impact daily life. A car was badly damaged by the falling boulder from the hill in Chakrata area. In the accident, village development officer had a miraculous escaped. On the other hand, the Badrinath National Highway, which opened on Sunday after three days, was closed once again on Monday. Debris is deposited in three places on the highway. Since 21 July, the traffic has not been restored on the Yamunotri Highway so far. There is a continuing process of landslide near Dabarkot.

On Monday morning, there were sharp showers in the hill areas of the state for some time. Badrinath National Highway, was halted near Chamoli due to falling debris. On the other hand, an engineer of the National Highway Authority, who was involved in the removal of debris in the area, got injured due to stone falling from the hill. On the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway, the District Magistrate Swati S. Bhadauria visited the area to inspect the landslide. The passengers  surrounded the DM by sloganeering in protest against the administration. DM assured to restore the traffic as soon as possible. Apart from this, movement on the Kedarnath Highway is also being interrupted. Nearly 100 roads are closed by rain and landslide in the state.
