Pilot killed in MiG-21 crash in Himachal’s Kangra

A pilot of the Indian Air Force lost his life after his MiG-21 crashed in Himachal Pradesh.

It was believed that the pilot had detected the plane’s malfunction and that he got out of the plane even before the crash. But later the death of the pilot was confirmed. This Air Force aircraft was coming from Pathankot in Punjab, which crashed in Kangra’s jawali in Himachal.

Earlier in September 2016, another MiG-21 had crashed. In the accident in Barmer Rajasthan, both the pilots aboard the plane saved their lives by jumping from the parachute. The MiG-21 supersonic fighter jet is manufactured by Mikoyan-Gurevich Design Bureau of the Soviet Union. Earlier it was called ‘Balalaika’, because it looked like Russian musical instrument lovac.

MiG-21 has been retired from the Air Force

The MiG-21 aircraft has already been retired from the IAF in December last year. MiG-21 aircraft flew its last flight from Air Force station located on the Nal, Rajasthan, on December 29th. At the same time the Air Force had said goodbye to MiG-21 aircraft.

During this time, Air Force Chief BS Dhanoa had himself flown the MiG-21 aircraft for the last time.
