40 Stalink satellites of private sector space company SpaceX have been destroyed due to a geomagnetic storm. This information has been given by the company itself. SpaceX says about 49 Starlink satellites were placed in low orbit around Earth via the Falcon 9 rocket. However, a day after launch, about 40 Starlink satellites were destroyed in the range of a geomagnetic storm. According to the company, these satellites were installed about 130 miles above the Earth. In some viral footage, space debris is also being shown. The company said that there is no danger to other satellites due to their destruction.
The destruction of so many satellites in such an incident is a very serious matter. The company says that there is currently no threat to the Earth from the destroyed satellites. The company also says that these satellites were designed in such a way that in case of any danger, they would return to the earth’s atmosphere and become ashes. About 80 percent of the company’s satellites have been affected due to this storm.
A geomagnetic storm is a strong solar storm. There is always the possibility of its impact on GPS, radio and satellite communications. Apart from this, such storms also affect high-frequency radio communications and GPS navigation systems. At the same time, it also poses a threat to air services, power grids and space exploration programs.
