Jilted lover tries to burn alive female student in Pauri

Student refereed to AIIMS after sustaining 70 percent burns

Uttarakhand was also ashamed on the sixth anniversary of the Nirbhaya case, which shook the nation. A rejected lover sprayed petrol on the girl returning home after taking the exam and set her on fire.
After sustaining around 70 percent burns the student was admitted in medical college in Srinagar in critical condition from where she has been referred to AIIMS Delhi. Police have arrested the accused. There is huge anger in the area residents about the incident.

An 18-year-old girl from a village in Kafalsayu Patti in Pauri district was returning home from college by giving an examination of BSc on Sunday. On the way Manoj Singh alias Bunty of Gadh village started chasing her.
After a while, on the raw path in a deserted place, he forcibly stopped the girl. On protesting, the accused sprinkled petrol on her and set her on fire and fled from the spot.

After a while, a villager passing through the spot saw the girl lying on the road in the burnt condition and gave the information to the police. As soon as the information was received, the police arrived at the spot and with the help of 108 ambulance, the girl was brought the district hospital to Pauri.

The doctors here referred the medical college to Srinagar after the first aid. Dr. BP Maurya and Dr. Pankaj Kumar Sharma said that the student has gone upto 70 percent. The youth protested outside the District Magistrate’s office. The youth are demanding the execution of the accused. Meanwhile, the state police has registered a case of attempt to murder in the sections of section 354, 307 and 506 of the IPC.
