Russia-Ukraine war completes 500 days

The Russia-Ukraine war, which started on 24 February 2022, has completed 500 days today. The United Nations (UN) has objected to the deaths of civilians during this period. UN has told that in these 500 days, 9 thousand common citizens of Ukraine have died. These include 500 children. More than 15 thousand people have also been injured.

According to the report of the Kiev School of Economics, in these 500 days, the buildings and infrastructure of Ukraine have suffered a loss of Rs 11 lakh crore. IMF estimates that it will take 10 years for Ukraine to recover from the effects of the war, for which Rs 33 lakh crore will have to be spent.

On the morning of February 24, suddenly airstrikes started in Ukraine’s capital Kiev and surrounding cities. This attack of Russia created a stir in the whole world. NATO member countries stood up to support Ukraine. Many countries including America, Britain, Poland, France started helping Ukraine while staying out of the war. Even after 500 days, the war is still going on and both the countries are suffering due to it.

Millions of people had to leave Ukraine in this war. According to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has forced more than 6.3 million Ukrainian citizens to become refugees. Russia has the largest population of Ukrainian refugees.
