Cold wave grips Uttarakhand

After snowfall in the high altitude areas of the state, it is freezing in the plains. Fog has doubled the hardships of people with cold in the plains. People are being forced to resort to heater along with warm clothes to avoid cold.

There has been a steady fall in maximum and minimum temperatures in the last six days in Doon. Dehradun’s maximum temperature has dropped by eight degrees in the last six days. At the same time, the minimum temperature has come down to five from 12.

The feeling of cold is beginning to vibrate in Doon. On December 10, where the maximum temperature of Doon had reached 29, at this time it has come down to 21. In the last six days, the mercury has started to dive downwards and is seeing a difference of eight degrees.

On December 10, the minimum temperature in Dehradun was up to 12 degrees and it was three to four degrees above normal. But after six days, the situation has turned. Snowfall in the mountains took three days and the effect of fog and cold wave is also visible in Doon.

Because of this, the minimum temperature of the city has come down to 5.6 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees less than the normal temperature. According to the forecast of the weather center, the days in Doon will remain the same and the minimum temperature may fall by two degrees.

The morning will start with light fog. However, there will be good sunshine during the day. But the frost will there in the morning and evening. According to Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center, at present there will be no special change in the weather in Dehradun till 22 December. The meteorological center has advised people to take health-related precautions on the change between maximum and minimum mercury.

According to weather center Dehradun, the plains of Uttarakhand are seen getting rid of fog at present. The weather will be completely normal till December 20.

On Wednesday, thick fog enveloped the plains of Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Pauri, Nainital. But there was no fog in Dehradun in the morning. In the coming days, there will be no fog and visibility will be fine.

But the cold day conditions will remain in the plains. The maximum, minimum temperature will continue to decline.

Mercury minus 3 degrees in Munsiyari, water stored in pipelines

People are now quenching thirst by burning the fire under the pipeline after the temperature has reached minus 3 degrees Celsius in Munsiyari. Getting water from the taps to the houses has become a new challenge for the people in the bitter cold.

By heating the lines, people are somehow trying to keep the drinking water system from getting frozen. Severe cold continues in Munsiyari after rain and snowfall. The temperature here has reached minus 3 degrees.

Drinking water lines have started to freeze due to the rapid fall in temperatures, which has disrupted drinking water supply in many villages of the region. The water in the lines has become extremely snowy. Due to which the drinking water crisis has deepened in front of 4 thousand population of many villages including Sarmoli, Nanaseem, Bunga, Ghorpatta.

People are trying to supply drinking water in some way by heating frozen drinking water lines. Even heating the tubes everyday has become a compulsion of people.
