US gives Russia 60 days to implement Nuclear Treaty

The US has warned Russia that if it does not destroy its missiles within 60 days, it will separate itself from a significant treaty on nuclear weapons during the Cold War. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Tuesday that if Moscow does not take back its new system, then it (US) will not be obliged to accept the Intermediate Range Nuclear Force (INF) Convention in 1987.
The US says that Russia’s missile system has created the threat of increasing arms race again. NATO says that now Russia has the responsibility to save the treaty that controls the weapons race across the world in the eyes of many people. At the same time, the organization’s head, Jens Stoltenberg, says that the time has come for a peace treaty to be ready for the world.

After meeting with Foreign Ministers of NATO member countries, Pompeo said, “America today declares that Russia has violated the treaty severely and if Russia does not fully validate its compliance within 60 days, then we will also not honor our commitment. “

The US and NATO say Russia’s 9 M729 system violates the INF treaty. Under this treaty, the missiles of 500 to 5,500 km range, which are launched from the ground, are prohibited.

NATO says that these cruise missiles capable of carrying Russia’s nuclear weapons can be tampered from anywhere and it is also difficult to detect them. It can make a target of any in any European city with slightest or no warning.
