Monsoon is about to gain momentum in Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of heavy rain in the state for the next three days from August 18. At the same time, there is a possibility of rain throughout the state except Haridwar district during the next 24 hours.

According to meteorologists, apart from heavy rain at isolated places in all the districts, there is a possibility of thunder and lightning in some areas. In such a situation, the government, administration, district administration as well as the officials related to disaster management need to be alert 24 hours a day.

Weather changed after noon

After rain for the last two days in the state, the weather turned sunny again on Tuesday. The weather remained clear in all the districts and it was sunny throughout the day. Due to which people had to bear the scorching heat. But in the evening the weather changed and there were clouds in many areas including the capital Dehradun. Due to which there was a feeling of coolness due to a slight drop in the temperature.

Joshimath-Malari Highway opened

The Joshimath-Malari highway, which was closed due to a landslide during heavy rains, has been opened for the movement of small vehicles. But, big boulders are still stuck on the hill side of the highway, making vehicular movement dangerous here. At the same time, there is no movement of large vehicles on the road, due to which the movement of army vehicles is still stopped.

Two days ago, the Joshimath-Malari highway was blocked due to a rock fall. On Sunday, BRO workers were engaged in removing the boulders throughout the day, but the highway could not be made smooth for the movement of vehicles. Due to this the movement of army vehicles going to the border area along with the villagers of Niti valley came to a standstill.
