Govt to recharge 12,000 dry water sources, to seek help from NGOs

The government will recharge around 12,000 dry natural water sources in the state. Around 100 such sources will be revived in the first phase and 500 in the second phase. A spring shed development team under Swajal will be constituted to look after the task of reviving the dry water sources.
Besides, the government has also roped in NGOs for the purpose.
Around 15,000 villages will be covered during the drive and of these around 12,000 villages fall in the hilly region of the state. These villages are fully dependent on natural resources that have either gone dry or are discharging less water. The geo-hydrology principles will be used to identify the sources and conservation efforts such as extensive plantation too will be undertaken.
