India defeats Australia 2-1 in ODI series

After claiming the Test series, Team India won the limited over format with a same 2-1 scoreline against the Aussies.India won by 7 wickets. Batting first in the final ODI Australia were recovering from the early inroads by pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar before being bamboozled by Chahal’s  legspin. The leggie claimed 6 wickets. As a result the hosts were bowled out under 50 overs setting India a target of 231.

Dhoni hits hattrick of fifties

MS Dhoni who was criticized for his string of poor scores prior to the series answered his critics with the bat by scoring 3 consecutive half centuries. Dhonis’s innings were instrumental in helping India win the final two ODI’s after losing the opener.

India’s middle order stands up

The biggest positive from the final game of the series was India’s middle order standing to the occassion after losing Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Dhoni (87*) and Kedar Jadhav (61*) who was drafted in for Ambati Raydu ensured that India did not lose any further wickets. Together the duo added 121 runs in 19.2 overs to script a historic win for Team India in Australia.
