Uttarakhand wins 5th consecutive Ranji Trophy match

Deepak Dhopola claims 11 wickets in match

Team Uttarakhand is steam rolling opposition in Ranji Trophy 2018. Although their match with Meghalaya lasted the allotted quota for four days the team didn’t look in trouble. Batting first Meghalaya were bundled out for 311 courtesy Puneet Bisht’s 154. For Uttarakhand pace sensation Deepak Dhopola was the spearhead once again getting 6 wickets. In reply Uttarakhand didn’t have the ideal start losing 4 wickets before 100 runs on the scoreboard. Vineet Saxena (202*) then teamed up with his in-form skipper Rajat Bhatia (212*) to stitch together an unbeaten 399 run partnership. With 491/4 on board Uttarakhand declared on the final day with a lead of 180 runs. Deepak Dhopola once again ran through the opposition top order reeling them at 25/4. Gurinder Singh’s defiant century however saved Meghalaya from an innings defeat. With light fading fast team Uttarakhand required 53 runs to win their fifth match on the trot. They knocked off the runs in 6.1 overs to win with a bonus point.

Team Uttarakhand exude confidence in Ranji Trophy Plate Group

With 5 wins out of 5 matches team Uttarakhand is sitting pretty at the top of the plate group with 33 points. They have a huge 14 point lead over second placed Meghalaya. Such has been the dominance by the team so far that they are the only team in Ranji Trophy 2018 yet to lose a match. Rajat bhatia has ably led the team from the front scoring 3 centuries in his last 3 games. 28 year old pacer Deepak Dhopola however has been the find of the tournament thus far. In 4 games the Ranji trophy debutant Deepak has picked up 37 wickets at a stunning average of 9.89.
