Nearly 2 million hectares of forest destroyed by fire in Canada

In Canada, 1.8 milllion hectares of land has been burnt so far this year due to forest cover. According to the news agency Xinhua, on Thursday, the Canadian Interagency Fire Service said that as of Wednesday afternoon, a total of 254 forest fires were extinguished in Canada and 75 others were monitored. More than half of these fires occurred in the province of British Columbia.

Alberta province caught more fire this year than any other province or region and lost more land. Of its 955 cases, the biggest fire was in Chakeg Creek, causing about 10,000 people to migrate to safer places.
