India make short work of New Zealand in 1st ODI

Team India continued their winning momentum in the Southern Hemisphere with a win in New Zeland. Fresh after a series win over Australia, Team India first skittled out the hosts for 157 then chased down the target with 8 wickets in hand. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for India with 4 wickets against his name. He was ably supported by his partner in crime Yuzvendra Chahal who picked up 2 wickets. Pacer Mohd. Shami also reached to 100 ODI wickets milestone becoming the quickest Indian pacer to do so. He broke the record of Irfan Pathan. In reply, India got off to a brisk start courtesy Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. The pair put on 41 runs for the first wicket.

Play was then suspended for 30 minutes due to sunlight making an awkward angle in eyes of the batsmen. Dhawan and Kohli then added 91 runs for the third wicket before the skipper was dismissed. In the end Dhawan’s unbeaten 75 guided India to a win in the 35th over.
