Why is Turkey prone to Earthquakes?

Tectonic plates are the reason for frequent earthquakes in Turkey. The country with a population of about 8 crores is situated on 4 tectonic plates and the whole region feels strong tremors even due to the movement of one plate. The largest part of Turkey lies on the Anatolian Plate, which lies between two major plates, the Eurasian and African, and a smaller one, the Arabian. As the African and Arabian plates shift, the whole of Turkey is jolted by Earthquake tremors.
