Djokovic survives Musetti scare to advance to Quarter Finals of French Open

World number 1 Novak Djokovic survived a tough match against Italian teenager Lorenzo Musetti winning 6-7,6-7,6-1,6-0,4-0. The 19 year old Musetti making his Grand Slam debut looked for an upset of epic proportions taking the first two sets in a tie-break against Djokovic.

However, 18 time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic made a strong comeback after losing the first two sets by defeating Italian teenager Lorenzo Musetti to reach the quarter-finals of the men’s singles of the French Open 2021 tennis tournament.

After going down the first two sets 6-7, 6-7, the Serbian won the next two sets 6-1, 6-0. After leading 4-0 in the deciding fifth set, 19-year-old Mosetti withdrew from the match due to a groin injury, helping the Serbian reach the quarter-finals for the 15th time at Roland Garros. Djokovic will next take on Italy’s ninth seed Matteo Berrettini, who made it to the last eight after former world number one Roger Federer pulled out of the tournament.

After losing the first two sets, Djokovic made a strong comeback and took full advantage of Musetti’s tussle with an injury. The Italian player had to take a medical time out in the fourth set and also left the court for a while. Djokovic lost just 10 points in the third set and just four points in the fourth set after going down two sets. He won the last 13 games.

Meanwhile king of clay Rafael Nadal had smooth sailing against another Italian Jannik Sinner winning in straight sets.
