Uttarakhand weather update: Respite from rains; cloudy weather to prevail

Since the onset of monsoon in the month of June this year, Uttarakhand has been witnessing excessive rains. Due to heavy rains, the rivers and streams are in spate, the water level of the rivers is also at its peak. Due to water reaching people’s homes, they are forced to move to safer places. However, since the last two-three days, the sequence of monsoon rains has slowed down a bit. Bright sunshine is seen in most areas including Dehradun. There is also a report of moderate showers amidst partly cloudy sky.

According to the Meteorological Department, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy to partly cloudy in most parts of the state for the next few days. On the other hand, there is a possibility of light showers at some places in Kumaon, for which a yellow alert has been issued.

Weather expected to be clear at most places

According to Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center, heavy rains are not expected in the state at present. The sky may remain clear in most areas of Garhwal division for the next few days. On the other hand, there is a possibility of light showers of one to two rounds between partly cloudy in Dehradun and surrounding areas.
