Railways to have airport like check-in system

Indian Railways is now going to arrange security check like airport. Under the new security arrangement, the permission of entry can be stopped sometime before the scheduled departure of trains on the stations, just like the airport. Also, the passengers will have to reach 15 to 20 minutes before the train departure for the completion of the security check. However, this system has not yet been implemented.

Director General of Railway Protection Force Arun Kumar told PTI that this high-tech security scheme has already been started in Allahabad and Hubli railway station in Karnataka in view of the Kumbh Mela starting this month. In addition, the draft has been prepared for implementation of the scheme at 202 railway stations. He said, “The scheme is to seal railway stations. It is mainly regarding identifying entry points and determining how many can be closed. There are some areas which will be closed by making permanent border walls, RPF personnel will be deployed in others and thereafter there will be gate to be closed at the points remaining. Kumar said, “There will be casual security checks at every entry point. However, passengers will not need to come hours in advance, instead of airports, but only 15-20 minutes before departure time will be there to ensure that there is no delay due to security procedures. He said that security will increase, not the number of security personnel.
