Heavy hailstorm in Nainital

Proving the MeT deprtment’s forecast correct, there was a heavy hail shower in Nainital. There was so much hail fall that it felt like a blanket of snow.

In Nainital Friday, it was very wet since Friday afternoon. Traffic was stalled for an hour on the mall road. There was also a jam on the internal roads. For the people of the city, even though the hailstorm has become a problem, it was a unique experience for the foreign tourists visiting Nainital.

They said that for the first time, they were seeing such a big hail. During the hail, a tree fell on the roof of the High Court personnel in the Malli Tal Pant Sadan, causing the roof to be damaged. Due to western disturbance the weather will again get worse from February 18.

In the plains, there is a possibility of heavy snowfall along with rains along with rain. At the same time, after Friday afternoon, the mood of the weather changed and clouds covered the sky. In the evening it also rained.
In the higher region due to rain and snow, it is again getting cold. On the high peaks of Munasari and Dharchula, on Thursday night too there was snowfall. Traffic on the route from Friday morning is smooth.

Rain & Snow again expected from February 18

State Meteorological Center director Vikram Singh told that on 18, 19 and 23 February there is a possibility of light to moderate rains, strong winds and snowfall in areas with altitude exceeding 3,000 meters.

Light to moderate rain and snowfall is expected in the areas of at height of more than two thousand meters from 20 to 22 February. Rains are expected in Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar over the next 48 hours from 18 February. There is also a hail and rain forecast on 21 February in Bageshwar, Pithoragarh. There is a possibility of heavy snowfall in Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag.
