Heavy rains damage Kathgodam rail track; all trains cancelled

Despite the departure of monsoon in Uttarakhand, the rain is wreaking havoc in the state. The Meteorological Department had declared a high alert for the coming two days in Uttarakhand on Sunday itself. The havoc of rain is being seen clearly in Uttarakhand for the last 48 hours. There was a sharp change in the weather since last Sunday. It is raining continuously from the hilly districts to the plains, due to which the chain of accidents has started once again. The torrential rains in Uttarakhand are also affecting the traffic. Meanwhile about 500 meters of the railway track between Haldwani, some distance from Kathgodam railway station, has been submerged in the river, due to which the railway administration has canceled all trains running from Kathgodam. In view of the red alert and keeping in view the safety of the passengers, all the trains running from Kathgodam will remain canceled till further orders of the railway administration.

For the last 48 hours, it has been raining heavily in most of the areas, due to which about 500 meters of railway track at some distance from Kathgodam station has submerged in the river, due to which the operation of trains has been stopped from there. The railway track is being repaired but due to heavy rains, the railway administration is unable to repair the track. It is being told that it may take several days to repair the railway track. In such a situation, the operation of all trains coming from Kathgodam may come to a standstill for the next few days. Kathgodam station superintendent said that it is not possible to operate trains until the track is repaired. In such a situation, all the trains coming to Kathgodam are being stopped at Lal Kuan station.
