Protests break out across America over racialism

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic in the US killed more than 100000 people. Due to this the country’s economy has suffered a lot. About 40 million people have become unemployed. Meanwhile, the country seems to be stuck in another crisis. Minneapolis has witnessed violent protests after the death of an African-American man George Floyd in police custody.

The anger of the people about the incident was boiling for several days, but now this violent demonstration is increasing rapidly in all the cities of America. It is becoming increasingly difficult to stop this, as protesters are demanding a change in America’s entire criminal justice system, not a specific measure. A mob in Atlanta also attacked CNN’s headquarters.

Demonstrations are taking place in 30 cities following the death of George Floyd in the city of Minneapolis in the US state of Minnesota. Police and protesters clashed in several cities on Saturday night. Curfew has been imposed in 25 cities in 16 states, including Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Atlanta.

Floyd was arrested on 26 May

On May 26, Floyd was arrested by police in Minneapolis on charges of fraud. Earlier, a police officer caught Floyd on the road and held his neck with his knee for about eight minutes. Floyd was handcuffed. Its video also went viral. In this, 40-year-old George constantly kept pleading with the police officer to remove his knee. He said, ‘Your knee is on my neck. I can’t breathe…. “Gradually, his movements stop. After this, the officer says, “Get up and sit in the car” even then there is no response. During this time there is a lot of crowd around. He is rushed to the hospital, where he dies.

Police had to use tear gas and force in many places to dispel the protesters.
