Kashmiri student studying in Dehradun posts objectionable comment; causes public outrage

In the midst of sad and anger, a Kashmiri student in Dehradun caused public outrage after posting objectionable comment on social media on Friday. The accused student is a parag medical at Subharti University. Angred by the comments, the public shouted slogans in front the college, where Kashmiri students are studying. The police reached there and used light force to control the students & public who were shouting and protesting. The police force was also deployed around the college.

Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Nivedita Kukreti said that the police is investigating the case. The accused  is absconding since Thursday evening. Search for him is going on. Here, the college administration has also issued a show-cause notice to the student suspended. On the other hand, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that security agencies are investigating the anti-country remarks on social media. Action will be taken against the accused after the investigation.

According to the police, Kashmiri resident Keshar Rashid posted a message on Facebook in Pulwama terrorist attack that “I’m Happy Today has become a Chicken Dinner” on Thursday evening. According to the police, a student added in his friend list objected to his post, but he started threatening her, but soon after the post went viral it was Keshar’s turn to feel the anger of the public. Keshar then posted an apology post. Despite this his comments, were viral on social media.

The situation became strained when the students of other college outside the college gathered on Friday morning after sloganeering. Meanwhile, the crowd started trying to enter BFIT and Alpine Institute. Many students of Kashmir are also studying in these colleges. The crowd also broke into the college. Upon getting the information, the top police officials including the SDM Pratyush Singh reached the spot and controlled the crowd. In the evening, Rudrapur MLA Rajkumar Thukral has given a complaint against the student.

After making anti-social comment on social media, when people got angry comments on him, the Kasher Rashid became underground. SO Premanagar, Narendra Gehlawat said that the student has not been seen since Thursday evening. The room in the hostel where he lived was locked. A search operation is on to find him.
