MiG-27 crashes in Jaisalmer

A MiG-27 fighter aircraft of Indian Air Force crashed due to a technical failure in the engine on Tuesday evening, in Jaisalmer’s firing range. Due to the accident, the debris of the aircraft spread to some 3 kilometer area. Fortunately, the pilot managed to get out safely. There is no information about any loss of life and property in this.

Air Force has ordered the Court of Inquiry This aircraft was in the training mission for the Fire Power Demonstration of IAF on February 16. The Air Force has sealed the entire area. High officials have reached the spot. The plane was flown from Jodhpur airbase at 5.20 and crashed at Ramdevra at 6:10.

Debris spread in a 3 km area

According to information from official sources, a MiG-27 fighter aircraft of Indian Air Force flew from Jodhpur Air Force Base for its training mission. This aircraft was about to carry out its mission in the Pokhran Firing Range. When the plane experienced a technical glitch during the flight, the aircraft pilot ejected and turned the plane into a deserted area. At the same time the plane crashed and there was a tremendous explosion. Its pieces fell in the deserted area, about 3 km from Khetolai village in the Pokhran firing range.

Confirming this, Khetolai Sarpanch Nathuram said that the aircraft came down with a powerful explosion in the deserted area, about 3 kilometers away from Khetolaii. No loss of any kind is known. The explosion of blast and sand had resemblence of a nuclear test.

SDM Pokhran and police officers left for the spot

District collector Namit Mehta also confirmed the incident and said that the incident took place in the Pokhran firing range. Pilot has successfully ejected. There is no information of any kind of damage. SDM Pokhran and police officers have been sent to the spot.

Confirming the incident, Defense spokesman Ghosh said that the MiG-27 aircraft was in its routine training mission, during this time the plane crashed at around 6.10. The pilot is ejected safely. Air Force has ordered the Court of Inquiry

Significantly, the Fire Power Demonstration of the Indian Air Force is proposed on February 16. Its full dress rehearsal is to be held on 14th February. This aircraft was on its training mission in the same context.
