NDA’s Rafale deal 2.86% cheaper than Congress’ deal: CAG report

The report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has been presented in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday in protest against the Opposition’s opposition to the Rafale deal. According to this report, the NDA government has 2.86 percent cheaper deal final than the Congress-led UPA government. This deal of 36 Rafael fighter aircraft took place in 2016 in the term of PM Modi. Earlier, during the UPA tenure of 126 Rafael was done, but due to various conditions, common opinion was not formed.

This report of the CAG is of 141 pages, which has started a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha since presenting it. Due to which the chairman had to adjourn the proceedings of the House.

17.08 percent money saved

The CAG report says that compared to the 126 aircraft deal, India has managed to save 17.08 percent of the money. On this report, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley tweeted that the lie of the Maha coalition has been exposed and the truth has won.

What’s in the report?

This report has done comparative analysis of the price bids of 2007 and 2015. It reads, ‘The calculated value of’ U1 million euros by INT, while the aligned value calculated by the audit was’ CV’ million euro, which was about 1.23 percent less than INT aligned cost. This was the value on which the contract should have been signed in 2015, if the prices of 2007 and 2015 are considered equal. But in 2016, for the ‘U’ million euro, the contract was signed, which was 2.86 percent lower than the cost as per the audit. ‘
