Bajrangi Bhaijaan zooms past 100 cr mark

The speed with which Bajrangi Bhaijaan crossed the 100 crore mark seems to indicate that the film is poised to break many records. Released on 17th July, the Salman Khan starrer movie shattered the weekend collection record of Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 (95.76 crore) by amassing 102.6 crore.

Baahubali vs Bajrangi Bhaijaan at the box office

The only movie that seems capable of standing toe to toe with Bajrangi Bhaijaan is Baahubali. ‘Baahubali’, a sweeping, VFX-heavy, multilingual drama, released a week prior to ‘Bhaijaan’ and has become the first South Indian movie to cross Rs.300 crore at the box office. Interestingly, Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ have a unique connection and that’s KV Vijayendra Prasad, who penned the story of both the films.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh in a tweet said, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan is Salman Khan’s 8th film to cross Rs 100 crore mark in India. Highest Rs 100 crore score by any actor (Hindi films).” Co-produced by Salman Khan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan has been released over in over 50 countries. Directed by Kabir Khan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan also features Kareena Kapoor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Harshaali Malhotra and Om Puri.

Baahubali also continues its earning streak despite the blockbuster opening of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The film clocked a figure of Rs 3.25 crore on Friday, followed by climbing figures of Rs 4.70 crore on Saturday and Rs 5.40 crore on Sunday.
