PDP MP leaves Doon with over 100 Kashmiri students

The four-member delegation, headed by PDP MP Fayaz Ahmed Mir, arrived in Dehradun on Tuesday on the issue of security concerns of Kashmiri students after the Pulwama terror attack. The delegation met the Kashmiri students living in the hostels on Sudhowala and Turner Road. During this he went to Bijapur guest house and also talked to CM Trivendra Rawat. A a bus also convened for transporting the students. After that, he has left for Kashmir with 100 Kashmiri students late in the night.

MP asked the students what kind of threat they received and who needed protection. Most refused to go back from Dehradun. Some, however, expressed the desire to go home after the practical examination. The SSP assured PDP leaders the security of each student.

Meanwhile, about a hundred students have returned with him. After the martyrdom of the armymen in the Pulwama terror attack, there is resentment against Pakistan all over the country. Following the objectionable comments of Kashmiri students over Shahadat, the atmosphere of Dehradun was tense. Many organizations have protested outsideĀ  many educational institutions.

In this case, a Kashmiri student was arrested by the trial and the other was suspended. This matter was further highlighted when on 16 February Jawaharlal Nehru University alumni’s former president Shehla Rashid tweeted the confinement of the Kashmiri girl students in the room of their hostel in Dehradun which later proved to be false. An FIR was registered against Shehla Rashid in the Premnagar police station forĀ  her tweet.

Among these apprehensions, a four-member delegation led by PDP MP Fayaz Ahmed Mir, Kashmir, arrived here on Monday evening to take stock of the security of Kashmiri students. The delegation interacted with the Kashmiri students on Tuesday, reaching the hostel in Sudhovala on Tuesday. They were asked if they were kept locked in the room. The girls denied this. According to sources, girl students have themselves told that they were not in any kind of danger. They also refused to go back. The delegation also spoke to students living at Turner Road near ISBT.
